I was reflecting the other day on how things can seem impossible and out of reach, but it is only because we lack knowledge.
In my first few years of college a few decades ago (yes it has been a while) I put off taking math classes because it had always been my weak subject. When I finally did it I took a prep class first and passed with flying colors. The fear of the unknown or fear of failure holds us back from so many things in life.
When I was facing the prospect of raising three children on my own (alone). I was absolutely terrified, it seemed impossible. Looking back 6 years ago I never could have imagined where we are today. It is not easy, but it is definitely possible!
My garage door has been broke for months with a roller that keeps popping off the track and falling off. It squeaks and groans and sounds like it is going to come crashing down on me every time I open it. Faced with the cost of paying a repairman I put it off for a long time. Today I bought a new pin and roller. With some tools, Google and WD-40 I fixed it myself for $5. It was super easy! I am not afraid of the garage door. I am relieved. Why? Because I KNOW how to fix it now.
Many things seem difficult, impossible or completely out of our reach at times. Why? Only because we lack knowledge. Anything can seem impossible until you try. Step out, read a book, Google a video, check out an article, take a class, ask someone who knows. What's the worst that could happen? I could have been out $5.00 and the door would still be broken. No harm no foul.
What if Noah did not have the guts to build the ark? He did not know how, but God gave him step by step instructions. When he followed, God made sure he succeeded! What if the founding fathers were too afraid to try? Founding a new nation? Ha! Impossible! Nope.
Proverbs 16:3 NIV
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.
Luke 1:37 NIV
For no word from God will ever fail.
Mark 10:27 NIV
Jesus looked at them and said, "With Man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."
Philippians 4:13 NLT
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
We know that nothing is impossible with God IF we believe His Word. However, we can still fail IF we do not know His word and His will.
Hosea 4:6
NIV
My people are being destroyed for lack of knowledge...
NLT
My people are being destroyed because they don't know me...
We can let lack of knowledge in general hold us back from many things. Lack of knowing God holds us back from the most important thing!
Don't let fear hold you back. Seek God, know God, commit your plans to Him and truly nothing will be impossible for you.
